SisterMag Press Twin Launch
Thursday, 10 January, 6.30 – 9.30 pm
We hope you can join us for the launch of two new SisterMag Press publications – Twins and The Quiet Theatre.
TWINS Collated by Katie Schwab
A print portfolio featuring artworks and writing exploring ideas of the multiple and the individual, including photographs, screenprints, drawings and texts. Twins is produced in an edition of 40. Work by Nisha Matthew, Amy McDonnell, Ella McCartney, Monica Rivas Velasquez, Matthew Robinson, Sian Robinson Davies, Alexei Schwab, Katie Schwab, Nina Wakeford and James Whittingham.
THE QUIET THEATRE by Rosanna Mclaughlin
A book of interviews with artists focusing on a single piece of their work, with an introduction by Rosanna Mclaughlin and full colour reproductions. Featuring interviews with Andreas Blank, Kaye Donachie, Seth Pick, Gedi Sibony and Phoebe Unwin.
On the night Alexei Schwab will be playing Sleng Teng 1, a live DJ set featuring his collection of songs that utilise the Sleng Teng riddim. Sleng Teng is the name given to the fist fully computerised riddim in Jamaican music. It is amongst the most re-recorded of Jamaican riddims, listing around 380 versions. His research into this features in Twins; he’s also Katie’s twin brother.
SisterMag is produced by Katie Schwab and Rosanna Mclaughlin, two old friends whose practices and interests, which have developed alongside each other over a number of years, meet, come together, share with and support one another under the umbrella of SisterMag Press.
Twins and The Quiet Theatre are second and third publications by SisterMag Press; in 2011 they produced Issue 1: Patterns, limits and alterations.
