Empty Space by Arielle Berman
Published by Open Praxis (2013)
The art book is a collaboration between graphic designer Masaki Miwa and photographer Arielle Berman. Empty Space demonstrates a continuous play and consideration towards spatial perception. Through discussing the presentation of Berman’s analogue output (using only 35mm film camera), artists had chosen to publish the images on a newspaper format. Both are understood as analogue method of production and distribution. It is an aim to revive its beauty of quality – visually and physically, challenging the qualities of it being disposable or ephemeral. The design of the publication allows it to be viewed as conventional newspaper and loose sheets of posters.
