Parts Per Million by Tilly Fowler & Anna Hart (Eds.)
Published by AIR (2014)
The book was produced as the summation of a series of arts commissions in Archway and Finsbury Park, commissioned by Islington Council and AIR (Central Saint Martins). As a collection of overheard, solicited, and speculative responses from the multiple voices of the programme – the artists, their participants, collaborators, commissioners and audiences – it is an aggregate reflection on the tactics, processes and consequences of the twenty-three commissions. Throughout the project we mapped recurring approaches and qualities, extracting through discussion thirty-six words foundational to the programme. Parts Per Million is organised around these ‘terms’ and ‘conditions’ that delineate a careful and incisive approach to public practice.
