Self-published book The Fourth Wall by Max Pinckers examines the huge role the Bollywood film culture plays in wider Indian society, where the fictional world of cinema seeps into reality and influences everyday life, dictating the perception and imagination of its audience. The series blurs the line between staged and documentary photography, capturing scenes in which it is unclear whether what we see is staged or a spontaneous moment (and as a result adding to the confusion of fact and fiction). The publication also includes quotes taken from Indian newspapers, which contain a similar duality as the images – a suggestion of fictional events predicting and dictating real events.
